Notice to Parents of Students using the Sewickley Public Library of the
COMPUTER USE AT THE SEWICKLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY – New computer use rules are in place at the Sewickley Public Library for children and teens. Weekdays between 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. children and teens, with permission from the librarian, may use the computers for homework and for checking email messages from parents or guardians only. Since the Sewickley Public Library is owned by the school district, school rules and regulations apply to after school computer use. Neither the school district nor the library can support computer use for other purposes. The goal is for the library to be used appropriately and for it to be a safe place for children to come after school – not a place to hang out for socializing, rough housing or for childcare until parents or guardians return home. Instead, programs such as the YMCA Homework and Recreation Club at QVMS can meet parents' needs for after school supervised activities.
